James King: Tuesday 22nd January 2008 was a strange day. With the shivers still tickling my spine from seeing Cloverfield in the afternoon - and being reminded over its 85 minute running time just how fragile life can be - then comes the news. Heath Ledger, an actor so vibrant and passionate in his roles, has died.

I tried to remember the first time I met him. I think it was whilst he was promoting The Four Feathers, a not-very-good historical epic that he made during his somewhat lean years between being a teen heart-throb and a credible Brokeback cowboy. His laidback Australian attitude didn't make for a great interview but in an age of polished, rehearsed soundbites it stuck out from the crowd. Much better than a few years later when I met him in New York. Answering questions about himself seemed so painful for Heath that the interview still remains un-aired.

But Heath Ledger was a very good actor. From the cheekiness of A Knight's Tale to the seriousness of Monster's Ball. From the bravado of The Patriot to the tenderness of Brokeback Mountain (the film he will always be best remembered for). His range was undeniable. An upcoming role as Batman's nemesis The Joker, meanwhile, looks as if it will be his most mesmerising yet. So whilst he may never have been an actor to play the publicity game with journalists, I can't help but admire him for ultimately just letting his acting do all the talking.

Edith: I found out last night about Heath Ledger when James called me. To say I was in a state of shock would be an understatement.  A very sad loss to the world, what a talent that hadn't really shone with it's full potential yet. A very private man who fought to maintain an element of his life private in a very public job.  I hope that the media and others will respect his family that are left behind and allow them to try and come to terms with this incredibly sad news.  Thoughts are with them.

Let us know about your favourite Heath memories and leave your tributes for him here...

Juno and best friend Leah (Olivia Thirlby) hatch a plan to find Juno’s unborn baby the perfect set of parents, Mark and Vanessa Loring (Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner), who are longing to adopt their first child.  Luckily, Juno has the support of her dad and stepmother (J.K. Simmons and Allison Janney)

It's in cinemas on 8th February, but we've been given this exclusive clip to get you excited!

You can also find out more about the star of the film, Ellen Page, in this interview.

Teeth

January 16, 2008

If you heard Reggie chatting to Edith the other day then you'll definitely remember him bigging up this new movie Teeth. It's about…wait for it…a girl who has teeth where you really wouldn't expect them to be. Watch the trailer to make you squirm. That said, this does look genuinely bang on, not as stupid as the premise might suggest. But ultimately it's still about a lass with a toothy downstairs area...
