Indiana Jones
November 28, 2007
This week's mid-week sneaky peak is of Joaquin Pheonix and Mark Wahlberg's new 80s cop thriller We Own The Night. I saw it the other day, actually. If you like American Gangster, you'll love this. It's a mean, murky, macho thriller topped off with some subtly brilliant performances and - for the boys - lots of Eva Mendes in skimpy outfits. Not even American Gangster could boast that...
Gary Lightbody in the DVD Clinic
November 27, 2007
Gary is in a very famous band called Snow Patrol and he's also a massive movie fan. We think that makes him a blimin brilliant guest for the DVD Clinic!

Dan In Real Life Trailer
November 21, 2007
Check out this week's mid-week sneaky peak trailer. It's for Steve Carell's new movie Dan In Real Life, a comedy drama about a single dad who falls for his brother's girlfriend - doh! I chose it for two reasons. One, Steve Carell only has to raise an eyebrow to get a big laugh outta me. And two, it co-stars a woman for whom I'd lay down my life, Brit actress Emily Blunt. Simple really.
Sir Ridley Scott - American Gangster
November 16, 2007
1Xtra's Max caught up with Sir Ridley Scott, the director of the true-to-life film American Gangster, to talk fact vs. fiction, music in cinema and whether rappers can act!
I didn't have time to fit in all the good films out this week on-air, so here are some extra reviews for your listening pleasure!
Emily Blunt
November 15, 2007
Emily stars in the new movie "The Jane Austen Book Club" and was also in "The Devil Wears Prada"
Major Movie Star
November 14, 2007
I love all actresses called Jessica. Fact. So even though this trailer for Major Movie Star does make it look like the worst film ever, it does star a Jessica (Simpson) and therefore it immediately has something to recommend it. Plus Steve Guttenberg of off 3 Men And A Baby is in it too, showing off a startlingly tight face. Amazing.
Edith Meets Jason Schwartzman
November 13, 2007
The actor chatted to Edith about his new film ' The Darjeeling Limited' which is about three brothers getting to know each other again. He also talked about being the drummer in 'Phantom Planet' and his new music project, 'Coconut Records'.
James King's Extra Bit with Emile Hirsch
November 09, 2007
Not that I'm a boring man, but nothing much happened to me this week - apart from me thinking someone had died during a screening of the new Jude Law film... but we'll gloss over that - so it gives me a great excuse to play you this little exclusive! An interview with hot young actor Emile Hirsch - star of new movie Into The Wild
Russell Crowe - American Gangster
November 08, 2007
Russell talked about American Gangster, haggis, 3:10 to Yuma and kilts amongst other things. He also gave Edith a hoody and cap from his Aussie football team, as modelled in the picture!
Sean directs new movie Into The Wild. It's a true story about a guy called Christopher McCandless who just ups and leaves to get away from it all. Sean talked to Edith about why he chose this particular story and what it was like making it into a film.
Awake
November 07, 2007
Awake features Darth Vader and Jalba - together at last! Edith lurrves him and I lurrve her so this pic's got at least two fans already. Telling the scary tale of a guy who's conscious during an operation, this looks like being a real talking point when it comes out next Feb. Aaaah, a perfect Valentine movie. Er...maybe not.
James King's Extra Bit
November 05, 2007
Hey. Hope you had a good weekend. Here's this week's Extra Bit. Enjoy!
Elizabeth: The Golden Age
November 01, 2007
Edith reckoned that coz of my surname, it should be me that interviewed the cast and crew of new regal drama Elizabeth - The Golden Age. Plus, I do LOVE a luvvie - and in Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush, the movie boasts two of Australia's finest thesps.
It's been a packed couple of years for Cate with with C. Already this year I've seen her in Babel, Notes On A Scandal and The Good German, as well as cheekily playing Simon Pegg's ex-girlf from behind a surgical mask in Hot Fuzz. Coming up soon there's her take on legendary folkie Bob Dylan in I'm Not There and as the baddie in Indiana Jones 4 alongside her childhood crush Harrison Ford.
It was this busy life that she began the interview by telling me about, plus news of why Queen Elizabeth 1st fancied a smelly sailor and how her kids throw up on her PJs. Classy.
I also chatted to co-star Geoffrey Rush, a long-time pal of the Blanchett and, inbetween filming Pirates Of The Caribbean movies, was the guy who persuaded Cate and director Shekhar Kapur to reunite for this new Elizabethan epic, 10 years after the first oneā¦
And for webheads only, here's a chat I had with Golden Age helmer Shekhar Kapur. He's intense. If you're currently stuck writing a History essay on the Tudor age, Shakhar's dissertation-like answers could be just what you're looking for...
